What people do

One of the most multi-talented members of our congregation is John Roger Makings. Woodworking, painting, music hall, guitar are but a few of his activities. Recently the group for whom John Roger is the mentor held an art exhibition at Northwood Community Hall. Few of us knew about it in time, but perhaps next time we can give our support.

Matthew Carson is beginning to take a more active role in Repertory Theatre and has a part in the spoof horror “It was a Dark and Stormy Night” by Tim Kelly. This is a production by the Young Rep at the Repertory Theatre in Leek Road, and is at 7.30pm from Wed.11th July to Sat. 14th July.

It would be good to know what others are doing so that we can give our support, at the very least by our prayers.

When...?

When we come into church, a service will already be in progress and prayers are being sung. Please do not disturb those prayers by talking, but become a part of them. Light candles and venerate icons if it is an appropriate time to do so, but keep greeting of others to an absolute minimum.

When does it finish, so that we may talk?

Only after the end of the prayers of thanksgiving, which you should be a part of if you have received the Holy Gifts, has the Liturgy really ended. Those prayers must be audible to the priest, and to all those who have received, because we are giving thanks to God for His Inestimable Gift of Himself to us.

Crowland

What a wonderful place for a pilgrimage. This shows the 2005 visit to the remains of the Abbey, when we were able to venerate the relic of St. Theodore, martyred, at the Altar during the Divine Liturgy, by the Danes in 870.

Cyprus

Those who have access to a computer might like to view Fr. Philip’s write-up of his recent visit to Cyprus. It is well worth reading, beautifully written and very uplifting. On our parish website press “Links” then “Antiochian Deanery” to find the article.
