Nicholas - the main Godparent - holds on to the priest's stole and is lead into the church with the baby and other godparents. The rejection of satan and the exorcisms have been followed by the reciting of the Creed and the turning to Christ. The baby is brought from the world into the Kingdom of Heaven. |
Incense is used to honour God
and His saints and to honour His Image in each of us. |

The baby is prepared for the anointing with oil. |
The anointing with the Oil of joy and gladness. |
After the threefold full immersion in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Going under the water is death, coming out of it is resurrection. The baby receives his name, Pavlos (Paul). St.Paul becomes Pavlos's patron and guide for the rest of his life following Christ faithfully to the end. |

Pavlos is dressed in new white clothes - new life is his now! |
Pavlos is Chrismated with Holy Oil to give him new power to live his life. He is sealed by the gift of the Holy Spirit on each of the members of his body with Oil in the sign of the cross. Pavlos is given a cross to wear for the rest of his life and is lead in a joyful procession around the table which has on it the Gospels and the Cross - the centre of our Faith. A joyful procession which has no end symbolising the beginning of an eternal unity with Christ. Pavlos is then tonsured - his hair cut in four places in the sign of a cross - his first offering of himself to God. |
